This year we reviewed both White Christmas and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale for our holiday episode, and decided to make a drink for each of them.
Shot: Yule Log, the magical(?) hunk of wood witches burn during winter solstice to ward off evil spirits.
1/2oz each dark creme de cacao and Irish cream
Cocktail: White Christmas, one of the greatest Christmas songs, one of the greatest Christmas movies, and what you hope for each year unless you have to drive.
1oz each white creme de menthe, white creme de cacao, and cream. Shake over ice and strain into a champagne glass. Garnish with red and green sprinkles.
While the merry bells keep ringing, happy holidays to you! I think that’s how that goes. Anyways, check out our thoughts on the drinks, movie, show, and much more on podcast 132, here:
We’re already halfway home on the RoboCop franchise, and I gotta say, that feels pretty good. Maybe there’s something to be said for franchises that don’t have 20 entries….
Shot: Blue Velvet, the super-drug the bad guys want to process, since regular old Nuke isn’t bad enough I guess.
3/4oz vodka, 1/4oz blue curaçao
Cocktail: Nuke, the regular old drug that isn’t bad enough and inspires the bad guys to create super-drug Blue Velvet. It’s a vicious cycle.
1oz each amaretto and Southern Comfort; 1/2oz each sloe gin and lemon juice. Stir in an ice-filled rocks glass.
Wish the Nuke would have turned out a little more red, and for those playing at home, yes it is very similar to an Alabama Slammer. Good on you. For our thoughts on the drinks, movie, and much more (we even have guests this week!), check out podcast 131, here:

We didn’t think Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was as bad as everyone made it out to be, and hopefully you’ll extend us the same courtesy on our drinks…
Shot: Blue, after the smart and loyal Velociraptor from the flick.
1/2oz each tequila and blue curaçao
Cocktail: Ball Ride, the weird mode of transportation around Jurassic World, mostly seen in the first movie but used for a cool action scene in this one as well.
Place a frozen ice ball in a small rocks glass. Add 1.5oz coconut rum, fill with pineapple juice, and stir.
I’m guessing not a lot of people have an ice ball mold, but I’m also guessing not a lot of people have blue curaçao either. Check out our thoughts on the drinks and the movie, and a draft of our favorite prehistoric creatures, all on podcast 130, here:
We’ve seen a bunch of stuff on Netflix lately. Here are the drinks to prove it.
Shot: Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, aka Daredevil. Season 3 was pretty good- can’t wait for next season!…
3/4oz cinnamon schnapps, 1/4oz Campari. Side note, we just ran out of our second bottle of Campari. I’m betting the majority of people never own one, and if they do, they pass it on to their kids like a family heirloom.
Cocktail: Kim-Joy, the lovable, wacky contestant from The Great British Bake Off series 9 with a penchant for using animal imagery in her bakes.
3oz coconut rum, 1oz white creme de cacao, dash chocolate bitters. Shake over ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Carefully pour 1/4oz creme de violette down the center. Garnish with plastic animals if possible.
Well, there you have it. Our drinks based on two of the four shows we discussed (the others being She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and MST3K: The Gauntlet). Check out podcast 129 for our thoughts on all the shows, the drinks, and much more, here:
This week’s mini episode was on Netflix miniseries Castlevania and here are the mini drinks that tie in! Okay, so the one ain’t so mini…
Shot: Sypha, after the cool mage character who uses fire and ice magic.
1/2oz each cinnamon and peppermint schnapps
Cocktail: Morning Star, main hero Trevor Belmont’s legendary whip.
3oz vodka, 1oz orange juice, 1/2oz orange curacao, dash orange bitters. Shake over ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
Quick write-up for a quick show, but one worth checking out. And speaking of worth checking out, give a listen to podcast 128 for in-depth Castlevania discussion, drink reactions, and a draft of favorite animated tv shows, here:
