“Leprechaun 3” Drinks

It’s our 3rd annual St. Paddy’s Spectacular, and you know what that means- the third entry in the Leprechaun film series!

Shot: Gold Shilling, what yet again our diminutive demon leprechaun is after. If he loves his gold so much, why does he keep losing it?

2/3oz Irish whiskey, 1/3oz cinnamon schnapps

Cocktail: The Lucky Shamrock, the crappy casino where most of the “action” takes place. Did I mention the movie is set in Las Vegas? Yeah….

Shake 1oz each green creme de menthe, white creme de cacao, and Irish cream over ice. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.

Another St. Patrick’s Day, another Leprechaun movie in the books. And they start getting really bad after this one. For our complete thoughts on the drinks, movie, and much more, check out podcast 143, here:

“Star Trek: The Motion Picture” Drinks

We boldly go where (maybe) no podcast has gone before by reviewing the Star Trek movie franchise, starting with 1979’s The Motion Picture. The movie lived up to that exciting title. On to the drinks!

Shot: V’Ger, I guess the antagonist of the movie? Sorta?

1/2oz each vodka and elderflower liqueur

Cocktail: Café 1701, something to keep viewers awake during the multiple scenes of nothing happening.

In an Irish coffee glass: 1.5oz blended Scotch; fill with hot coffee

Man, this was a rough way to start a franchise, but I’ve got some inside information that it gets MUCH better from here! Check out all our thoughts on the movie, drinks, and a whole lot more on podcast 142, here:

“The Umbrella Academy” Drinks

A power outage on recording day forced our hand, and we had to release a mini on the entertaining Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy. Fortunately we have a battery-powered blender for just such an emergency….

Shot: Hazel, one of the time-traveling killers out to ensure the apocalypse takes place.

1/2oz each hazelnut liqueur and cream

Cocktail: Margarita No. 5, after the neon drink Number 5 sips while pondering how to stop the apocalypse from taking place.

1.5oz each white tequila, melon liqueur, and lime juice. Blend with 1 cup of ice. Serve in a salt-rimmed Margarita glass.

Both drinks were actually pretty good this time, but can’t hold a candle to this amazing show. For thoughts on both, as well as the announcement of our awards show nominees, check out podcast 141, here:

“Punisher” & “Venom” Drinks

Two for the price of one!

Shot: Venom, the titular anti-hero of the movie.

2/3oz dark rum; 1/3oz lime juice

Cocktail: Red Russian, after the main baddie of Punisher season 2, who does in fact get pretty bloodied, hence “red”.

Shake 1oz vodka and 2oz strawberry cream liqueur (you know the one) over ice. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.

You might want to play around with the proportions of the shot (MORE RUM LESS LIME!), but the cocktail was on point, albeit easy. For our thoughts on the drinks, show, movie, and a draft of anti-heroes, as always check out the podcast, here:

“Better Off Dead” Drinks

In retrospect, perhaps this wasn’t a great pick for a Valentine’s Day movie, but it was a lot of fun.

Shot: Perfectly Good White Boy, something that’s a real shame to see in the back of a passing garbage truck.

1/2oz each white creme de menthe and cream

Cocktail: Gin (I’m Really Sorry Your Mom Blew Up) Rickey, a mix of another great movie quote and a classic cocktail. We’re so clever.

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add 2oz gin. Squeeze in juice of half a lime and drop spent lime into the glass. Fill with tonic and stir. Float 151 rum.

Why flamingos? Why not? This movie is nuts- anything goes! Check out our thoughts on the drinks, movie, and much more on podcast 139, here:

“Aquaman” Drinks

Jason Momoa. (Hoping that is enough to get millions to flock to the website like they did to the theaters.)

Shot: Red-Headed Dolph, because it was just plain weird seeing Lundgren with that hair.

1/3oz each vodka, peach schnapps, and cranberry juice.

Cocktail: Ocean Master, what A-man’s bro Orm is trying to become in the flick.

2oz silver tequila, 1/2oz each creme de violette and lime juice. Shake over ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

We’re edging ever closer to capping off our 2018 must-see movies in preparation for our 3rd annual Tully Awards! To see how we enjoyed Aquaman, the drinks, and for a draft of fave sea creatures, check out podcast 138, here:

“RoboCop (2014)” Drinks

Our long national nightmare is over as we finish the fourth and final RoboCop movie of the franchise! What? There’s made for TV movies and a cartoon? Don’t care; we’re dunzo.

Shot: RoboCop’s Got a Brand New Suit, because RoboCop gets a brand new suit. It’s black.

3/4oz black sambucca; “float” Campari. (The Campari doesn’t really float- we tried.)

Cocktail: RC Reboot, and since this is a RoboCop reboot, we rebooted a rum and Coke.

Fill a highball glass with ice. 1.5oz dark rum, fill cola, stir.

Another franchise down, another two drinks in the books. Check out our thoughts on the movie, drinks, and much more on podcast 137, here:
