“Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” Drinks

January’s Patreon movie was the whackadoo “Willy Wonka…” Come with me, and you’ll see, the drink recipes we came up with….

Shot: Chocolate Factory, because hey, it’s right there in the title.

1/2oz each dark creme de cacao & butterscotch schnapps

Cocktail: Violet Beauregarde, after the bubblegum aficionado who takes no shit from Veruca Salt.

In a blender puree 1 pint blueberries and 2oz creme de violette. Add 1.5oz mixture to a champagne flute and fill with champagne. Garnish with a few blueberries on a pick.

As Wonka himself would say, “Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.” Check out our thoughts on the drinks, movie, and much more here: https://www.patreon.com/besottedgeek

“The Christmas Consultant” Drinks

Caroline Rhea hires David Hasselhoff to plan her Christmas, and we plan on drinking heavily to make it through this movie.

Dear God….

Shot: Fruitcake (Sling)shot, perfect for hitting neighborhood bullies who steal your sled in the nards.

1/4oz each: dark rum; apple brandy; orange liqueur; hazelnut liqueur

Cocktail: ‘Hoff’ Toddy, best served to keep fighting in-laws from leaving during the holidays. Or, you know, just let them go. Either way.

Rinse an Irish coffee glass with 1/4oz cinnamon schnapps. Add 3oz whiskey, 1tsp honey. Squeeze and drop in a lemon wedge. Fill with hot water.  Stir. Garnish with a lemon wheel and cinnamon.

This was another movie picked by our beloved patrons and meant to torture us, but guess what? It wasn’t that bad. There were some really cringe-worthy moments, but it had a heartwarming ending, and isn’t that what real Christmas movies are all about? (Looking at you, Die Hard.)

Anyways, check out our full thoughts on the movie and drinks, as well as movie news, games, ranking 12 other “Christmas” films, plus much more at patreon.com/besottedgeek!

“Critters 3” Drinks

What better way to celebrate Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday month than by seeing his very first film, “Critters 3”? Personally, I can think of several, but that’s not what our beloved patrons thought! Here’s the tie-in drinks that helped create a debacle of a podcast….

Shot: Critter Blood, after the green goo the goblins gush.

Squeeze the juice of a lime wedge (more or less) into a shot glass. Fill with melon liqueur.

Cocktail: LEO, the breakout star of the film. I guess. Look, he wasn’t anything special in it but became the biggest star by far.

3oz vodka; 1/2oz each limoncello and elderflower liqueur; dash orange bitters. Shake over ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
